40 hours, flexible, Monday-Friday between 7am and 7pm

POSITION SUMMARY 

Under the direct supervision of the Owners, the Operations Manager is responsible for daily leadership of the Pocket NC Production Team, planning the use of personnel and material resources, and creating effective systems for planning and managing these resources.  As a small but quickly growing company, Pocket NC seeks an individual who will be able to create the necessary infrastructure to add product lines and people to the company effectively.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Review production schedules, determine workforce requirements and monitor production to ensure customer requirements are met.  Work closely with the Sales and Marketing Director.
  • Delegate production assignments to appropriate personnel.
  • Lead and implement strategies to improve production efficiency utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, ensuring conformance to OSHA regulations.
  • Train, coach, and evaluate production personnel, ensuring maximum efficiency, quality and productivity.
  • Develop and maintain a positive team environment fostering continuous improvement in all aspects of production operations - responsible for employee relations, performance evaluations and discipline.
  • Direct and oversee all aspects of equipment and facility maintenance.
  • Implements and organizes inventory management systems.
  • Coordinates with purchasing to oversee stock levels of materials as well as completed goods.  
  • Assists in ensuring compliance with all Export Administration Regulations.
  • Communicates and orchestrates priorities across the team ensuring alignment to goals and priorities and executes to completion.
  • Works with team members to troubleshoot issues and ensure all product shipped is quality assured and within specification.
  • Develops processes and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency.

Development Responsibilities

  • Receives feedback and direction from the Pocket NC leadership team in order to focus on reaching financial and production goals.
  • Prepares the production process for future growth including increased volume and new product lines.
  • Contributes to the layout design of current and future facilities.
  • Facilitates bringing new products and modified versions of current products into the production environment.

Experience and Education Requirements 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Operations, Business, or a related field.  Will consider equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience in implementing and/or managing a Lean Manufacturing operation.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems. 
  • Knowledge of Export Administration Regulations is preferred.

  • Must be able to work in a moderately noisy environment with multiple conversations, industrial machinery(ear protection required in some locations).
  • Must be able to listen, hear and talk in the English language
  • This position is active and requires employees to frequently stand or sit for long periods of time
  • Regularly required to walk, kneel, stoop, crouch, reach, lift, carry, push and pull 
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance, shovel, and operate machinery – such as a forklift
  • Vision abilities are required for driving which include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to frequently lift a minimum of 50 pounds without assistance and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds with the assistance of another team member or mechanical assistance (such as a hand cart, etc)
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds frequently
