What materials can you cut with the Pocket NC?
The Pocket NC Version 1 can cut wax, plastic, wood, and aluminum. Basically any materials with hardnesses up to that of aluminum.
The Pocket NC Version 2 can cut any materials with hardnesses up to that of 4140 steel.
What size parts can you make with the Pocket NC?
VERSION 1: The travel of the Pocket NC is 4.3 inches (109 mm) in X, 5.0 inches (127 mm) in Y, and 3.5 inches (89 mm) in Z. The maximum travel in the A axis is (-5° to 95°) and the maximum travel in the B axis is (-9999° to 9999°). How your part fits in this envelope is highly dependent on your setup.
VERSION 2: The travel of the Pocket NC is 4.55 in (-2.00 in to 2.55 in) (-50.8 mm to 64.77mm) in X, 5.0 in (-2.5 in to 2.5 in) (-63.5mm to 63.5mm) in Y, and 3.55 in (-3.45 in to 0.1 in) (-87.63mm to 2.54mm) in Z. The maximum travel in the A axis is (-25° to 135°) and the maximum travel in the B axis is (-9999° to 9999°). How your part fits in this envelope is highly dependent on your setup.
What kind of software will I need to run the Pocket NC?
We are partnering with Autodesk to offer a one-year commercial subscription to Autodesk® Fusion 360™ with each of our machines. After the one-year period is over, Fusion 360 is free for enthusiasts, hobbyists, and startups and is compatible with Windows and OSx. You may also use whatever CAD/CAM software you would like, we would be happy to help facilitate the generation of a post processor for our machine.
Are you going to make a machine with a larger work area?
We do plan to design a machine with a larger work area, however it is still a couple of years from being released.
Can I upgrade my Pocket NC Version 1 to a Version 2?
Yes, you can! We currently offer a V2 Upgrade Item in our online store that involves upgrading your Pocket NC Version 1 to a Version 2. You can see that item listing here.
My credit card keeps declining when attempting to place an order on the Pocket NC website. Why is that? What can I do?
It is common for banks/card issuers to block transactions over a certain amount in order to minimize the chance of fraudulent charges. If your payment is declinined, reach out to your bank or card issuer and let them know that you are attempting to process this transaction. Afterwards, the transaction is likely to go through.
Do you charge sales tax?
Montana does not have sales tax however there are state sales tax laws in effect and beginning to take effect in several states. At the moment Pocket NC Company is not required to, and does not, collect sales or use tax from Washington, Pennsylvania, or Oklahoma.
Under Washington law, purchases are not tax-exempt merely because a seller is not required to collect Washington tax. Washington law requires purchasers in these states to review untaxed purchases and, if any tax is owed, file a Washington use tax return and pay any tax due. Pennsylvania sales or use tax may be due in connection with the purchase and delivery of tangible personal property to Pennsylvania individuals and businesses. Sales or use tax may be due in connection with the purchase and delivery of tangible personal property in Oklahoma. Oklahoma requires the purchaser to file a return if use tax is due in connection with the purchase and delivery pursuant to 68 O.S. §1393.
